Look at who (what) snapped to attention at the annual Independence Day celebration at Mosby Winery in Buellton.
Everyone looked sharp at this patriotic-themed event. Special guests were airmen from Vandenberg Air Force Base who handled the burning of retired flags in a moving ceremony conducted by winemaker Bill Mosby.
The airmen got to join in the party. This member of the squad sat at my table. The food was all-American--grilled beef, beans, garlic bread and green salad followed by lemon and chocolate cakes.
And there was all the Mosby wine one could drink. The bottles of Pinot Grigio, Primativo, Teroldego and a rosé were set out at an open bar shaded by an enormous grapevine.
Here are some of the grape vines that, in previous harvests, provided the libations. They're looking healthy and happy on a beautiful day in Santa Barbara County.
